Killing Children
So What Else is New?
So many of us are outraged, and physically sick, by what we’ve seen on the news this past week with states legalizing during labor and post birth abortions. I won’t insult your intelligence by pointing out that this is pure evil and angers God. I would, though, like to look at some of God’s exact words on the subject.
One of many arguments against the theory of evolution with no intelligent design is that in the 6,000 – 10,000 years since creation, people have not changed. There has been no evolution of human nature. As a result, people have been doing the same evil, and falling into the same snares of sin since Adam and Eve took that first bite. We need only read our Bible and study secular history to see how this has played out time and time again.
Pharaoh wanted Jewish baby boys killed right after birth. Pagans (which is another word for unbelievers) sacrificed their children in fire to appease a phony god name Moloch. Herod ordered the killing of boys two and under. The Babylonians, Aztecs, Mayans, Incas, Egyptians, Vikings, Romans, Germans, and many, many others have practiced killing children as a religious or political rite.
We know that God is against this, but let’s look at exactly what He says in Psalm 106:36 – 42, “They served their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood. Thus, they became unclean by their acts, and played the whore in their deeds. Then the anger of the Lord was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage; he gave them into the hand of the nations, so that those who hated them ruled over them. Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their power.”
Friends, did those verses make your blood run cold? Did they send a shiver down your spine thinking how this is playing out in our country right now?! I hope so! Christians need to get fired up! We cannot allow the enemy to ensnare us in sin – something that happens as soon as we start accepting sin as normal and don’t speak out against it. As Ephesians 5:11 tells us, “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
I know it’s tough to do when you feel like you are just one voice, and what possible difference can you make? Thankfully, the Lord never asks us to do anything in our own strength. Take heart and hear these encouraging words from Deuteronomy 31:8, “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Our prayer is that you find peace knowing our Sovereign God will right all things when Jesus comes back, but until then, that you not be lulled into accepting sin as anything but sin, and evil as anything but evil; and that you feel compelled to expose it for what it is. We encourage you to call, e-mail, and / or write your local and state representative and senators and let them know this is not okay. You can also speak out against Planned Parenthood, join the March for Life, or check out ways to get involved or help at Bethany Christian Services, Heartbeat International, or another Christian pregnancy service that comes along side and supports women who are struggling with an unwanted pregnancy.
