Why We Started Proverbs 9:10 Ministries
Proverbs 9:10 Ministries was cofounded by Rose Spiller and Chris Paxson, coauthors of “No Half Truths Allowed” and “The Bible Blueprint,” and cohosts of “No Trash, Just Truth!” podcast. Having both been steeeped in a church culture that expected it’s members to be solidly grounded in their understanding of the Bible and the theological and doctrinal truths that stem from that knowledge, we both had a “wake up call” to the sad state of many churches and their members today. Week after week pastors stand in front of their congregations and teach a moralistic story, when what they should be doing is reading a section of Scripture and then explaining the meaning and intent of the text. We have personally witnessed over and over the impact that comes from someone finally grasping a knowledge of the Bible coupled with gaining an understanding the true and complete Gospel message – even for some who considered themselves Christians and attended church for a long time. Understanding the Bible and knowing the true Gospel message for yourself is crucial in today’s world that’s saturated with false teaching and gospels being preached that are really not the true Gospel message at all. It’s too important not to get this right. As Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:13-14, “Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching you learned from me—a pattern shaped by the faith and love that you have in Christ Jesus. Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.” It’s time to take out the trash, and replace it with truth!
What We Believe
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God, and the sole authority on the character of God, faith, and the Christian life. (2 Tim 3:16 – 17) Our theology is “reformed,” adhering to the doctrines and theology of our Reformer Fathers, including, “Sola Fide” (Faith alone – Romans 1:17), “Sola Christus” (Christ alone – Romans 3:21 – 21), “Sola Gratia” (Grace alone – Romans 3: 21 – 31), “Sola Deo Gloria” (to the Glory of God alone – Romans 11:36), and “Sola Scriptura” (Scripture alone – Romans 3:23 – 25) Put together, these tenants are the essence of Christianity: It is only faith in Christ alone that saves us. This faith comes only through grace given to us by God and is for His glory, not ours. Scripture is God’s Word and the only authority on the things of God.
We believe all people are born totally depraved, dead in their sins and at enmity with God due to the Fall. As a result, we are unable to seek God, convert to God, or “choose” Jesus without the Sovereign, regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. (Psalm 51:5, Romans 5:12, Colossians 2:13, John 3:5-7, Ephesians 1:4) Those God elects to be regenerated, He brings to true repentance and saving faith in Jesus Christ. He sanctifies His elect through the Holy Spirit by transforming us by the renewing of our minds and opening the Scriptures up to us. (Romans 12:2 – 3, Luke 24:44 – 45) We believe that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and the only way to begin to understand and know God is through the study of Scripture. (Proverbs 9:10)
About Rose and Chris
Rose Spiller and Chris Paxson are coauthors of the books, “No Half Truths Allowed – Understanding the Complete Gospel Message,” “The Bible Blueprint: A Guide to Better Understanding the Bible from Genesis to Revelation,” and “The Final Exodus – Deciphering the Book of Revelation.” They are cohosts of the podcast, “No Trash, Just Truth!” weekly, 40-minute episodes of solid Biblical teaching, warning about false teaching, cults and more. They also co-host “5AM Theology,” a weekly 10-minute look into their daily chronological Bible reading.
Rose & Chris have both graduated from the “Dimensions in Faith” Program at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, and continue their studies through online classes from Reformed Theological Seminary and in the “Institute” Program at Biblical Training.org. Rose & Chris have authored several expository Bible Studies including studies on Genesis, Judges, Ruth, Esther, Daniel, the Sermon on the Mount, Hebrews, and Revelation.
Their passion continues to be taking out the trash of false teaching and replacing it with Biblical Truth
